Option A — Delete from inside the app (recommended)
- Sign in to Canine Konnect on the web at
konnect-canine.comor open the mobile app. - Go to Settings.
- Scroll to the Danger Zone section and tap Delete account.
- Confirm. We'll email you a 24-hour download link with all your personal data, then permanently remove your account.
Option B — Email request (no login required)
If you've lost access to your account or simply prefer to request deletion in writing, email us:
privacy@konnect-canine.comInclude the email address registered on the account in your message. We may ask one follow-up question to verify you're the account owner. Requests are actioned within 30 days as required by GDPR/UK Data Protection Act 2018, usually within 72 hours.
What gets deleted
- Your account profile (name, email, password, profile picture, bio, business details)
- All questions, answers, comments, votes, and saved/favourited content you posted
- All private messages you sent or received
- Events you created and your RSVPs to others' events
- Vet bookings (past and upcoming) and your booking history
- Uploaded images linked to your content (Q&A photos, AI breed-detection submissions)
- Your credit balance and credit-purchase history
- Push-notification tokens and any analytics tied to your user ID
- Your Stripe customer record and subscription on the Canine Konnect side (the matching record on Stripe's servers is retained per Stripe's legal obligations — see below)
What we have to keep (and for how long)
Some data is retained for legal, financial, or fraud-prevention reasons even after your account is deleted. We minimise this strictly to what the law requires:
Tax & accounting records (invoices, payments)
Retained for 7 years per HMRC requirements (UK Companies Act / VAT regulations). These are stored as line-items only — your name and email are pseudonymised once your account is deleted.
Stripe payment records
Stripe retains payment metadata per their own retention schedule (typically 7 years). See stripe.com/privacy. We have no control over data stored on Stripe's servers.
Backups
Encrypted database backups are rotated on a 30-day cycle. Your data is fully purged from backups within 30 days of deletion.
Abuse / safety logs
If your account has been the subject of an active complaint or moderation action, a minimal record (user ID, complaint reference, outcome) may be retained for up to 12 months to prevent re-registration / repeated abuse.
Before you delete — get a copy of your data
You have a right to a copy of all your personal data under GDPR / UK DPA 2018. We make this one-tap easy:
- Inside the app: Settings → Download my data (GDPR). We generate a JSON archive instantly.
- By email: we automatically send a 24-hour download link to your registered email when you confirm an in-app deletion.
- If you can't log in: include "send my data" in your deletion email and we'll attach the archive to our reply before deleting.
